Identity Theft?

If you are in Christ, you have a new identity. You are a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” With that new identity comes power over Satan and sin. God gives us that power. Satan’s goal is to strip that from you. If he can get you to doubt God, if he can get you to believe God power is limited, or if he can get you to walk out on your relationship with God then he steals your identity. Satan just couldn’t take it from you, but he had to make you give it up.

To get that power back, you must come back to the cross. Confess with you mouth “I am a child of the Most High God!” Your power isn’t in your own righteousness. Isaiah 64:6 says our “righteous acts are like filthy rags.” Our power comes from our identity. It comes from our Heavenly Father. God gives us power. He loves you and sees you as His child! God’s Spirit lives in you, if you have accepted Christ. He is greater than the one who is in this world! God loves you and sees you as His child.

Romans 8:15-17: “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

God adopted us as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ. If you have found yourself struggling to understand that you are a child of God, just hold on. Slow down. Remind yourself, daily, who you are. You are loved. You are blessed.  You are a child of the Most High God!
